Hair cut... or a heart cut?

Writer: Jeeson C.T.Jeeson C.T.

I'm sure the lock down was a strange and new experience for many - especially for the men who had their hairs and beards left untouched by the scissors.

(thanks to wives & moms who took up the task later on!)

Not just me, but many of us might be missing the saloons and parlors with the lock down. Today evening, I have to go on video to teach a few kids online. With the overgrown beard and hair, My face isn't at it's best now(it's otherwise a great one like yours since Jesus did the detailing).

I had a plan the last weekend to take up the task by self but eventually had to abandon it since I didn't want to end up getting bald. Today morning though, listening to a devotion on prayer, I was reminded of my prayer life which was rather unimpressive.

  • No spiritual discipline.

  • A cold heart with no real desire or longing for the Almighty.

  • Decisions I made about my spiritual life, but forgot about.

  • Promises I made, but failed to keep.

  • Stumbling, struggling and falling often.

  • The list can go on, but I'll stop.

Silly me! It was my heart that needed some attending, some shaping and pruning.

And here I was, worried about the hair left uncut. Silly me! It was my heart that needed some attending, some shaping and pruning. The dirty heart needed some thorough washing and cleansing. Rather than searching for a barber to work on my hair, I had to seek God and His word to work on my heart! Yes, It was a Heart-cut that I needed more than a Hair-cut. I can stop worrying about my hair after for now. After all, the saloons won't be closed forever!

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!

And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
